Working on Group Norms; No Put Downs; Express Appreciation:
ã Car Wash
Line the girls up
in two parallel lines, facing each other. One girl is sent between the lines-
through the car wash. As she passes, girls pat her on the back and say positive
things (praise, support, compliments, etc.) The attention produces sparkling
results! Do no more than 2 or 3 at a meeting or use when a girl really needs a shine.
ã Liars and Truthtellers
Each person takes a turn
telling the group 3 facts about herself: 2 truths and 1 lie. The group tries
to decide which is the lie. Okay to discuss.
This takes a while; you may want to do only 2 or 3 girls per meeting.
ã Forced Choices
Designate two areas of the room
where the girls will stand to state their choice. Point to each area as you give
the choices. Offer pairs of choices like these:
Are youcat or dog people?, Fall or Spring people? Hamburger or Salad people? etc. This game can be followed with questions
such as: Was there someone in the troop whose answer surprised you? Did you feel different (good or bad?) when your
choices were not the same as others?, etc. Kids love these and there are many variations. All force the participant
into making a choice and defending it.

Barnyard Babble Buddies
On cards in sets of two, write the names of different farm animals. (Make sure
you have one set of three just in case of an odd number.) Fan the cards for each girl to take one. The girls
then circulate, with their eyes closed making the sounds of their animals until they find their group or match.
