NOTE: In many cases, these songs have been
passed along from Girl Scout to Girl Scout, from generation to generation at meetings or camps, typically without access to
written music or lyrics. Many of these songs have long since fallen into the public domain, but some have not.
We have attempted to properly credit the composers and/or lyricists where known. (Some "custom" verses created
for or by our own Las Trampas members are included in this collection as well.) We cherish the heritage these
songs provide our organization and are grateful for their creation.
Make New Friends (This is a very traditional song used by Girl Scouts and others throughout
the world, especially during closing circle. It's always fun to learn new verses and even to create new ones for sharing
with others. Yet another way to enjoy this group song with the first, original verse is to sing it as a 4-part round!)
Make New Friends but keep the old, One is silver and the
other gold.
A circles round; it has no end. Thats how long I want to
be your friend.
I have a hand and you have another. Put them together and
we have each other.
Across the miles, across the sea, Friends forever we will
always be.
You help me and Ill help you, Then together we will make
it through.
Special verse for camp:
Camp was fun, I wish it wouldnt end, Still I'll leave here
with another friend.

GIRL SCOUTS TOGETHER, that is our song. Winding the old trails,
rocky and long. Learning our motto, living our creed. GIRL SCOUTS TOGETHER in every good deed.
GIRL SCOUTS TOGETHER, happy are we. Friendly to neighbors
far oer the sea. Faithful to country, loyal to home, Known as true Girl Scouts wherever we roam.

Whene'er You Make A Promise by W. W. Shield (This is a very easy song to learn and sounds
beautiful when sung in a round.)
WHENE'ER YOU MAKE A PROMISE Consider well its importance. And
when made, Engrave it upon your heart.

Brownie Smile Song by Harriet F. Heywood
Ive got something in my pocket; It belongs across my face. And

while. So Ill take it out and put it on Its a great big Brownie Smile!
And another special verse for outdoor fun:
Ive got something in my pocket That I found behind a log. My
leader said to put it back But I want to keep this frog. Its cool and green and slimy And it wiggles in my hand. Ive

We are Daisy Girl Scouts by Corinne M. Murphy
We are Daisy Girl Scouts in our tunics blue. When we get
together theres lots of things to do. We play a lot and sing a lot and learn whats good and true. We are Daisy Girl
Scouts in our tunics blue.
I'm a Daisy Girl Scout. I try to lend a hand To all
my friends and family and everyone I can. I wear a smile upon my face to make the world a happy place. I'm a Daisy Girl

Our Chalet Song (Music by Joseph
Bovet, Original FRENCH lyrics by Mme. E. Droin de Morsier, ENGLISH lyrics by Betty Askwith)
High up, high on the mountain, weve founded OUR CHALET. High
up, high on the mountain, weve founded OUR CHALET. Its sloping roof and wide shall shelter us without a care, And each
Girl Scout and Guide shall find a welcome there.
High up, high on the mountain, well go to OUR CHALET. High
up, high on the mountain, well go to OUR CHALET. Our simple life is free, our hearts are light, our songs are gay. We
ever shall remember the joys of OUR CHALET.
High up, high on the mountain, weve founded OUR CHALET. High
up, high on the mountain, weve founded OUR CHALET. And this its dedication shall never fail nor be undone. Each race,
each creed, each nation beneath its roof are one.
Special verse written for Las Trampas Association:
Right here, near Mount Diablo we found OUR GIRL SCOUT FRIENDS. Right
here, near Mount Diablo we found OUR GIRL SCOUT FRIENDS. We meet and sing our songs, we learn whats right, were growing
strong. We love to join together with all OUR GIRL SCOUT FRIENDS.

Can a Woman? (tune
"Shell Be Comin Round the Mountain") (lyrics by Iris Hirsh of GS Central Maryland)
Can a woman fly an airplane? Yes she can! Yes she can! Can
a woman build a building? Yes she can! Yes she can! Can a woman fight a fire? Can a woman change a tire? Can a woman
lead a choir? Yes she can! Yes she can!
Can a woman be a lawyer? Yes she can! Yes she can! Can a
woman fix an engine? Yes she can! Yes she can! Can a woman be a drummer? Can a woman be a plumber? Can she play ball
in the summer? Yes she can! Yes she can!
Can a woman be a doctor? Yes she can! Yes she can! Can a
woman drive a tractor? Yes she can! Yes she can! Can a woman lead a nation? Can she run a TV station? Can she head
a corporation? Yes she can! Yes she can!
Just you wait until were older, then youll see, then youll see, Well
be women in tomorrows history! History! As we grow up through the years We will sing out loud and clear. Can we start
the process here? Yes we can! Yes we can!

We Change The World by Melinda Caroll ©1989 G.S.U.S.A.and Legend Productions
Chorus: Change the World, come with me Time to
let our dreams fly free. And it comes so easily, that is our way. Every moment we're alive, it's our love that will
survive In the Girl Scouts, together, We Change the World.
Sisters of every color, friends from everywhere We all make
the difference, when we show the world we care. The Girl Scouts are our family And they show us what we can be And
I believe, together, We Change the World.
(chorus)
In a world with many faces, Girl Scouts find a way To help
in many places, along the trails we blaze. We'll light the light and do our share, Reach out your hand and someone's
there, And I believe, together, We Change the World.
(chorus)

Linger
Mm-mm I want to linger, Mm-mm a little longer, Mm-mm a
little longer here with you, with you.
Mm-mm Its such a perfect night, Mm-mm it doesnt seem quite
right, Mm-mm that it should be my last with you, with you.
Mm-mm But come September, Mm-mm well all remember Mm-mm
our camping days and friendships true, so true.
Mm-mm And as the years go by, Mm-mm Ill think of you and
sigh, Mm-mm this is "goodnight" and not "goodbye".

On My Honor
Chorus: On my honor I will try, There's a duty
to be done and I say "aye". There's a reason here for a reason above. My honor is to try and my duty is to love.
People dont need to know my name. If I do any harm, then
Im to blame. If Ive helped another, then Ive helped me And Ive opened up my eyes to see.
(chorus)
Ive tucked away a song or two. When youre feeling low theres
one for you. If you need a friend then I will come, And theres many more where I came from.
(chorus)
Come with me where a fire burns bright, We can even see better
by a candles light, And well find more meaning in a campfires glow Than wed ever learn in a year or so.
(chorus)
Weve made a promise to always keep, And we pray to the lord
before we sleep, Well be Girl Scouts together and after were gone, Well still be together and singing this song.

Home at the Camp (Diablo Day Camp 2000 version of "Home on the Range")
Oh, give us a camp, where the ground is not damp, And the
Scouts and the leaders all play. Where often we sing, make new friends, learn new things And the fun is among us all
day.
Chorus: Home, home at the camp,
Where the Scouts and the leaders all play. Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the sky is not cloudy all day.
Well, the campers all came for to hike and play games Dance
and cook neath the trees and the sun. But now Friday is here, saddle up, pack your gear, For our week at Diablo is done.

seldom cloudy, Well take our memries back home forever, This camp was made for you and me.
